Zostavax for Patients

Inman Pharmacy, Inc. is now offering Zostavax® shots for prevention of shingles also known as herpes zoster. If you are 50 years old or older you should think about getting vaccinated. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox during childhood. Once you have chickenpox as a child, the virus can stay in your body (in your nervous system) for many years. As you age the virus can become active again and cause shingles. People who get shingles usually have a rash on one side of their body. This rash can be very itchy and very painful. Zostavax® has been shown to prevent shingles, and lessen the pain and itchiness of shingles for those who still get it. If you are interested in getting Zostavax® we will need your doctor to fill out some paperwork and send it to us at the pharmacy along with a prescription for Zostavax®. They can download this paperwork right from our website. Once we have this paperwork and your prescription we will try and bill your insurance. Most Medicare D plans cover this vaccine.  We charge an administration fee, plus whatever your insurance plan asks us to collect as a co-pay. Please call us if you have any more questions.
